GripGrab RIDE Waterproof Winter Cycling Gloves – Real-World Test Review
I took the GripGrab RIDE Waterproof Winter Cycling Gloves out for a proper test: a 20km loop around the Cotswolds, hitting a peak of roughly 200 metres above sea level on the exposed ridge between Longridge and Painswick. With the temperature reading 5°C but feeling closer to 3°C, and plenty of windchill while averaging around 20km/h, this was a solid workout for any so-called winter glove.
Technical Qualities

GripGrab also tends to get the balance right between insulation and dexterity, and that’s true here. Even with the bulk of a winter glove, I was still able to shift gears, brake, and adjust my position on the bars without any fuss.
Comfort and Warmth on the Ride
On most of the ride, my hands were warm and well-insulated. The fit is close and comfortable, with no awkward pressure points. The fleece lining adds that “instant warmth” sensation when you first put them on, which is very welcome on chilly mornings.
As expected, the limit of their insulation showed on the high-speed, fully exposed sections, where the wind really cuts through. At around 5°C with meaningful windchill, they were right on the edge of what I’d consider comfortable for long periods. That said, this is pretty much as cold as I ride these days, and for that temperature range these gloves do the job very well.
For anything colder—or if you’re more sensitive to cold hands—a thin glove liner would easily extend their range another couple of degrees.
