Stage 4 Recap: Susa → Voiron
The peloton faced the longest stage of this year’s Vuelta: a 206.7 km route from Susa in Italy to Voiron in France, packed with Alpine climbs. Riders tackled the Puerto Exiles (Cat 3), Col de Montgenèvre (Cat 2), and the Col du Lautaret (Cat 2) before a long descent and rolling roads into the finish.
Despite the tough start, the sprinters’ teams managed the pace perfectly, bringing the race back together for a reduced-bunch sprint. In the final dash, Turner launched his sprint at just the right moment, holding off Philipsen by half a wheel to secure a famous victory.
