How the race was won
An early 15-rider move established the break, before a dangerous counter containing Matteo Jorgenson, Quinn Simmons, Brandon McNulty and Christian Scaroni was brought back with roughly 44km remaining. Lidl–Trek then kept the pressure on for Ciccone, and Decathlon CMA CGM positioned Seixas for the decisive approach to Civiglio.
Seixas increased the pace on Civiglio with 19.2km to go. Tom Pidcock and Ciccone initially followed, but both lost contact by 18.3km remaining. Seixas crested alone and committed to the descent and run towards Como. Mas emerged as the strongest chaser and distanced Ciccone on San Fermo della Battaglia, but the Frenchman still had 48 seconds in hand at the finish.
Behind them, Ciccone held third at 1:05. Evenepoel won the sprint from the seven-rider group at 1:20, ahead of McNulty and Pidcock.
What the result means
This was not a victory decided by a reduced sprint. Seixas made the difference on the race’s defining late climb, then sustained the advantage through the technical descent and final rise. Mas’s late move secured second, while Ciccone’s podium rewarded Lidl–Trek’s work without quite delivering the home win.
