The 2025 Critérium du Dauphiné kicked off in classic style with a spicy 195.8km opener from Domérat to Montluçon. Many expected a sprinter’s day—but the GC favourites had other ideas.
Tadej Pogacar looked smooth and strong all day, then exploded away in the final kilometre to grab both the stage win and the yellow jersey. Vingegaard, Evenepoel, and Van der Poel were all right there—this race means business from the start.

This one’s got a bit of everything: rolling climbs early on, a descent-heavy midsection, and a fast, slightly technical run-in to the line. Could be a bunch sprint—if the breakaway doesn’t spoil the party.
🧠 Expect the peloton to allow some early attacks, then bring it all back for a high-speed finish… unless the climbers throw in a surprise on the last uphill kicker.
